God is inviting you to experience spiritual growth while worshipping, studying and working with a small group of committed Christians.  This focused, disciplined growth is one meaning of "spiritual formation."  The Spiritual Gifts Ministry Team is sponsoring three spiritual formation groups that have these essential elements:

1) Fellowship through weekly meetings
2) Worship and prayer
3) Study of scripture and books relating to spiritual formation*
4) Mutual accountability and encouragement
5) Service to people beyond the group.

Your participation in a spiritual formation group will nurture your "branch-to-vine" relationship to Jesus Christ and encourage you to discover, cultivate and use your unique spiritual gifts. More groups will be formed as interest builds and the spirit leads.

These words come from the first invitation to First Baptist Church members to participate in Spiritual Formation groups.  The invitation says a lot about what groups do and why they form.

A high level of commitment is seen in all the groups, and members appreciate the greater depths that can be explored with this extended time.  Although the investment is great, many agree that the rewards are much greater!
