There are so many good things about the Golden years, and you may define Golden for yourself. The Senior Ministry at First Baptist Church recognizes the many contributions our senior adults have made over the years. They continue to be a vital part of the missions and ministry of our church. We recognize, too, that the needs of our senior adults vary extensively. We want to offer both ways to fulfill those needs and opportunities for service. Our senior adult members are actively involved in all ministries of our church, including worship, educational ministry, music ministry, and missions. The senior adult choir meets each Wednesday at 4:30 from September through May under the direction of Jeanne Davis. They provide special music for worship services several times per year. The seniors also participate in a complete line-up of activities scheduled just for them. This year’s line-up includes an ice cream social with a movie, a bus trip to the Greensboro Farmer’s Market, a soup and sandwich lunch after church, and a trip to see the Singing Christmas Tree in Salisbury. A winter and spring schedule will be announced soon. Information about all events will be made available in your Sunday School classes and in the Steeple Talk newsletter. We encourage you to join us for good times together.

The Senior Adult Ministry under the leadership of the Senior Adult Minister serves the senior adult members through planned activities and trips, homebound contacts and transportation assistance.
The Homebound Committee ministers to members that are confined to their home or in a care facility. The members of this committee make personal visits, provide church literature, send cards, and make assurance phone calls on days of extreme weather.
The Transportation Committee provides for the various transportation needs of our church family members. This includes organizing transportation for those who are unable to drive, or those who may need daily transportation on a continuing basis in order to meet a schedule of special treatments for an extended period of time.
